Director’s Secretariat
Director’s Secretariat
The Director’s Secretariat is involved in handling mails, public relations, arranging meetings/conferences, housekeeping, guesthouse management etc, apart from the normal secretarial assistance. The other important activity of the Director’s Secretariat is the Management Information System both to the Institute and to the parent department (DOD). As technology cannot substitute for these personal skills, Director’s Secretariat continues to play a key role in NIOT.

Estate & Maintenance
Estate & Maintenance
Since the infrastructure at NIOT is supported with electrical, air-conditioning, drainage, water supply, communication system etc., routine maintenance of buildings is to be carried out to support R&D activities on day-to-day basis. The major activities of the maintenance works are as mentioned below.
- Annual Maintenance contract works.
- Minor / day-to-day maintenance/development works.
- Statutory paper works.
The internal and external services and facilities are maintained by contractors on Annual basis. Such AMC services are Housekeeping Maintenance, Horticulture Maintenance, Air-conditioning maintenance, Lift maintenance and Generator Maintenance.

The functions of the Human Resource Development department includes imparting expertise and knowledge to NIOT staff in diversified disciplines, providing internal and external training programmes for professional development and extra mural lectures. Objectives:
The group arranges Taxies and other Vehicles for Fieldwork and official visits. To cater to the Tour and Travel needs of scientists of NIOT, the group also provides assistance to the officers for VISA and overseas medical claim policy.

Role & Functions of Transport, Logistics, Travel & Insurance cell:
Transport Cell
Arrangement of cars as per the requirement of the staff members for proceeding on official tours.
- Processing of payments to travels
- Materials transport to field centers by using Institute vehicles at the time of requirement
- Maintenance and operation of Institute vehicles, payment of statutory taxes viz., Insurance, Annual Tax, Permit, etc.
- Maintenance and operations of cranes and forklifts as per the requirement of the groups
Air Ticket Booking:
Arranging air tickets for scientists proceeding on tour (Domestic/International) including visa. OMP and settlement of bills thereof.
Insurance Cell:
- Corporate Group Mediclaim Policy of staff members and settlement of claims
- Group Personal Accident Policy (inclusion/deletion) including timely renewal.
- Coordinating overall insurance activities in NIOT

Objectives:
Strategic Planning & Management (SP&M) was established to plan and monitor all projects in NIOT. The group co-ordinates and assists the Director to monitor each project and provide information to take constructive decisions for effective execution of the projects and also collects data and prepares reports as and when required by the Director.
